Pay lots, game days and campus towing in College Station

Many College Station tows happen at private pay lots near Northgate, on game days, or on the Texas A&M campus. Here is what official sources say.

General information, not legal advice. The papers you got from the police, the tow company, the storage lot or a state agency control your dates. Agencies change phone numbers and steps, so check the agency's own page too.

Pay lots

State law allows a tow from a parking facility only of an unauthorized vehicle. In four appeals from 2021 to 2022 about the same $5 cash lot, appeals courts upheld findings that cars were authorized, and the tows lacked probable cause, because the parking fee was paid before the tow. The courts limited those rulings to their facts.

Game days

The City lists towable street violations on game days: facing traffic, blocking hydrants or intersections, parking too close to stop signs and parking in no-parking zones. If your car was towed, the City says to call 979-764-3600.

On campus

Texas A&M's rules let Transportation Services and University Police impound vehicles that break campus parking rules; the owner pays release, relocation and storage, and citations must be paid. For special events, state law lets a university move a car to another spot on campus only with signs posted ahead of time, release within two hours of a request, and a fee of no more than 75% of the state private-tow maximum.
