Riverside police vehicle release fee: $126 for most tows, $393 for 'Safe Streets Act' tows

The City's fee schedule for fiscal year 2026-27 lists the Police Department's vehicle release fee at $126 for most tows and $393 for tows it labels 'Safe Streets Act' tows, plus a $74 towing referral fee in some cases. The tow company's own charges are capped by Municipal Code section 5.15.080.

In effect since July 1, 2026.

Riverside's release fee for most tows rises from $20 to $119.50

City fee schedules from 2017 through 2023-24 list a $20 vehicle release fee for most tows. The Police Department's 2024-25 schedule, dated July 1, 2024, lists $119.50. The fee for 'Safe Streets Act' tows stayed $372 until 2026.

From July 1, 2024. The 2025-26 schedule was not found.
